Here’s a blog link about Mark Wahl’s approaches to test anxiety: http://www.allalliedhealthschools.com/blog/2012/gre-anxiety-busting-tips/
- Both genders have unique GRE challenges: Women face several male biases hardwired into the GRE test structure; test and academic statistics show that as a group, women out of school for a few years are chronically under-predicted for grad success by their GRE test results. They go on to outperform all other groups. These test factors are countered by class approaches and strategies. Men find the class a real boon also. Men often discover that their “tried and true” approaches falter in the decoys planted in the test. Both genders widely herald the training’s effectiveness and how it speaks to their unique psychologies. Additionally, Mark Wahl goes out of his way to advise on individual concerns and issues that arise, like learning disabilities, test phobias, and plateaued performance by offering advice during breaks, after the class, and by email. Further master-tutoring options are available.
And oh yes, the affordable price: Just $285, no extra service fees or tax, and there is free parking! It’s all direct instruction time, no large blocks used for classroom testing and study halls that some courses charge big bucks for. (You do this testing and practice on your own with Mark Wahl’s guidance.) The one-evening power-packed Basic Math Refresher, which reviews, clarifies and builds confidence, is just $95 additional. See the bottom of this page for more details on it.
Don’t let the low fees imply low quality. Your teacher Mark Wahl has 25 years experience teaching test strategies; he has published four books, trained teachers, and has thousands of satisfied students. Local ownership and building rental lowers costs—a part of the fees even supports local nonprofit services. No national corporate franchise fees and high building overhead to jack prices as happens with the Princeton-Review ($1200-$1500), Stanley Kaplan ($1250) and others. This is worth even a drive from Tacoma, Bellevue, or Bothell!
Instructional Outline of the GRE Prep Course Series:
Day 1:
+ In depth, “under the hood” introduction to the revised test and new question formats as the computer sees them
+ how to intelligently set and frame your GRE study and score goals
+ understanding and demonstrating how both sides of the brain need activation
+ overall point-gaining examination strategies
+ ways of changing self-destructive test attitudes
+ how to choose and quickly obtain the most effective, individualized study and testing resources
+ a strong introduction to the psychology and strategies for the math section
Day 2:
A “full deck” of effective, widely applicable strategies in many math areas, like pre-algebra, algebra, geometry, Venn diagrams, and statistics for the new question formats of the GRE math section. Often less work done strategically gains more mileage.
Day 3:
Powerful ways to crack the several new verbal question formats are given in a systematic way with in-depth discussion. The two analytic writing tasks are analyzed from a variety of angles and examples are considered in depth. Further test attitude work and study guidelines are also given.

NOTE (Registering for your individualized GRE test time):
The General GRE test itself is registered separately from this course. You can get information on many aspects of the GRE General Test from the ETS Company at ETS.org. The Mountlake Terrace Prometric Test Center is closest to Seattle (with a Puyallup one near Tacoma). It is booked through Prometric.com or 800-GRE-CALL for actual registration. You can choose an individual time and date for your GRE test taking. If you find yourself too rushed after scheduling you can reschedule up to 10 days before your test date for an extra fee (worth it if you still are not rightly psychologically or mentally positioned for the test).
NOTE on Math Skills:
This course assumes a functioning ability with pre-algebra/algebra/geometry skills, as well as new number theory/data/probability/story problem concept areas well as some new data items that have been added (like the normal curve and standard deviation). If you feel you are too rusty, uninformed, or never very successful in math, or you have math fears, please consider this single-session (4-1/4 hours) taught by nationally recognized math learning specialist Mark Wahl: the Basic Math Refresher Course.
Study Materials:
The pricey courses supply all study materials, it’s true, many of which are tedious or not adapted to your learning style. While Mark also gives out informative classroom handouts, you get to select and buy your own study books that meet your personal learning needs. How? Mark Wahl carefully guides you through a small list of tried-and-true resources: your individualized choices may total $40-$100. (Some may be available elsewhere but they are offered for your convenience and browsing at the course, purchasable at 5-10% discount.)
So sign up for expert training, good accessibility to the right study resources, and a more personal, interactive, incisive, direct approach with less fluff than the corporate blue chip classes…all at a supremely affordable price. By the way, it’s effective! See a sample of our many positive testimonials.
